Community Involvement

HBA membership is about more than building communities. It's about being part of the community. Whether it's donating clothing and gifts to the children at the Lakeview Center, donating time and materials to build a gazebo at a local elementary school, or painting the home of senior citizens, HBA members are active in their neighborhoods and generously share their knowledge, skill, time and money with their neighbors. For many years, the HBA has given back to the community by taking an active role in projects that help to better the lives of children and people in need. The HBA was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in celebrating National Philanthropy Day as Outstanding Charitable Organization.

The HBA was also was honored with a Children’s Champions Award on behalf of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Florida, Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Children’s Home Society of Florida, Children’s Services Center, Gulf Coast Kid’s House, Junior Achievement, Northwest Florida Comprehensive Services for Children, and the United Way/Success by 6 for making a difference in the lives of children in the community.
